Most Ohio Wood Art products are crafted one at a time or in small batches, so quantities larger than one are not available through the online shop. Care, Cleaning, and Storage of Wood Products

How do I clean my Ohio Wood Art cutting board, utensil, or other product designed to come into contact with food?

Ohio Wood Art cutting boards and other wooden products designed for contact with food have been finished with food-safe mineral oil and beeswax cutting board conditioner.

It is fine to wash these products with water and mild dish soap. If you use abrasives, it may scratch or damage the product, so use discretion and a light touch. Dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Ohio Wood Art cutting boards have been 'grain popped' before final finishing with mineral oil and beeswax conditioner to prevent wood surface from becoming 'fuzzy' after grain expands with initial contact to water.

If the cutting board, etc... begins to dry out, simply apply mineral oil with a soft lint-free cloth, wipe off excess, and allow to soak in and dry. If cutting board, etc... is very dry, it may take several applications of mineral oil.

NEVER wash a wooden cutting board or other wooden utensil in the dishwasher. This WILL damage it.

Can I wash my Ohio Wood Art product in the dishwasher?

No!

How do I clean my Ohio Wood Art furniture, decor, or accessory (for interior use and not designed to contact food)?

Wipe away any dust with a dry, soft, and lint-free cloth. Use the cloth to apply a small amount of furniture polish or lemon oil with a gentle circular buffing motion and wipe away any visible excess, then allow to penetrate and dry.

Wipe away any moisture that comes into contact with the piece immediately or damage to the finish may result.

Commissioning Custom Work

What is the process for commissioning Ohio Wood Art to create custom work or personalize a product?

Please use the form on our contact page or email Ian directly to discuss your idea or request and receive a quote. The form can accept attachments in most common formats (.pdf, .docx, .jpg, .png, .svg) if artwork needs to be submitted for review before an accurate quote can be provided.

I want to have this photo of [**insert special, sentimental thing here**] engraved on a [**insert handcrafted, beautiful Ohio Wood Art product here**] but it's a really old, bad, or low-resolution photo. Can you make it happen?

Maybe. I'm pretty good with image manipulation software and can usually find a way to make it work. But, if it takes hours of image editing then that is time I cannot spend woodworking, so that time has a cost that I will include in my quote. If an image is beyond my ability to extract something usable from, I'll let you know and we can go from there.

The best way to minimize your custom Ohio Wood Art product's cost is to provide source material that is easy to prepare for laser engraving (for example, black and white, high contrast, resolution under 200dpi, clear separation of subject from background, and so on...).
