It's just a simple, handcrafted lidded box. A REALLY NICE simple, handcrafted lidded box.
Both the lid and base are made of solid American black walnut with elegant chamfered edges.
Each side is crafted by laminating leopardwood strips on either side of a single, central purpleheart strip. Then, strips of olivewood (one of my favorite species to work with- it smells amazing...!) are laminated on either side of that to create a striking olivewood-leopardwood-purpleheart-leopardwood-olivewood 'striped' effect.  
The sides are solidly joined together using 'box joint' joinery.
The box's lid features a unique, hand-turned white limba pull.
On the bottom there are screwed-in rubber feet and the Ohio Wood Art logo/maker's mark is laser-engraved.
All of the box's surfaces have been finished with several coats of clear shellac.
